Chalkboard Table Seating Chart at Q Haute Cuisine, Calgary

I have the lovely opportunity to work with Cheryl and Lance on their Table Seating Chart, on the large chalk wall at Q Haute Cuisine! They went with their favourite movie titles as the table names, how memorable and creative. Congratulations again and thank you for having me create for your big day!

Instead of using numbers for their tables, Samantha and Craig wanted to use the cities in which they have traveled together. It was lovely to work with you both! Congratulations on your wedding!

Custom Chalk Art, Calgary Wedding, Table Seating Chart, Jesse and Elaine

"Together... is a Wonderful Place to be"
It was lovely working with Jesse and Elaine on this custom illustration for their table seating chart at Q Haute Cuisine! They wanted something artistic, creative and incorporated the pink flowers and nature inspired motif's that was a part of their wedding.

Thank you for having me be contribute to your special day.  A very rewarding moment for me: Elaine's father gave me a phone call about a week after the wedding to thank me for doing a great job and how much they loved it!

Calgary Wedding Chalk Typography, Table seating chart Kayley and Justin

Check out the table seating chart created for Kayley and Justin's wedding reception at Q Haute Cuisine. It was designed to go along with the look of their wedding invitations (image sent to me from Kayley) as seen in the last photo.  They love things that are of nature, homemade, winged creatures like bee's and butterflies. Friends, family and simple clean living is the style of this great couple. Congratulations on your wedding and thank you for having me create this for you!

Angela and Chad, Wedding Caricature

It's funny how life works sometimes. Angela and Chad contacted me to do caricature chalk mural for them, the theme being for their wedding and their upcoming beach honeymoon in Fiji! Once Angela sent me the photos, I recognized her as someone I worked with half a lifetime ago, at my very first job! Funny how we randomly reconnect so many years later.  Thanks again and Congratulations!

Fiona and James Caricatures, Chalk Mural & Live Drawings

Recently I worked with a lovely couple, Fiona and James on a custom Caricature.

They both love cycling (they each own three different bicycles!) and have always wanted to try a tandem bicycle as well. They were really easy to work with and really fun to get to know. Above is their completed studio drawing, and I was comissioned to draw it with chalk at Q Haute Cuisine, the location for their Wedding Reception.

Fiona and James also invited me to do live caricature drawing of their guests on their Wedding Reception evening at Q Haute.  This was an exciting opportunity for me and I really loved it! Check out some of the photos of the family and friends of the couple with their caricatures. Thank you Fiona and James for the opportunity to work with you, I had an amazing time!

Dahlya and Pablo, Caricature Chalk Drawing

The two photos above taken with my iPhone of the work in progress
Recently I had the pleasure to work with Dahlya and Pablo, a stylish and modern couple who were looking for an artist to create a Caricature Chalk Mural for their Wedding Reception at Q-Haute Cuisine. Credit to my friend Luba, of Sketch, Calgary Art Supplies and Art Framing, for the referral!

Their wedding was on Saturday, August 11th, 2012.  At our first meeting, we met at the restaurant and it was my first time seeing the space we were working with. I got to see photos of their invitations and learned about them and their wedding plans! I snapped a few photos of the couple, and worked from those as reference for their faces. After our consultation, we corresponded via email on sketches to get to the final product.

White Dress Photography did an amazing job capturing their big day. View the gallery HERE.  A truly beautiful, intimate and classic wedding.

Modern Wedding Blog Featured my Custon Name Wine Charms!

Exciting! I recently randomly found myself featured on the Modern Wedding Blog, The blog for Modern Wedding Magazine. The blog post was from back in November! I did get busier in November, but I thought it was likely because Christmas was approaching. Perhaps it was thanks to this recognition. Thank you Modern Wedding!

Maddy's Wedding Headband

My dear friend Maddy requested me to make this for her! How gorgeous did she look at her Mexico destination wedding? So fabulous and romantic. I was so happy that she loves her the custom made accessory, and that it was a part of her special day. The headband was made of Swarovski crystals, pearls and various pretty silver metal beads. She told me she's putting her wedding accessories into a memory box that is displayed on the wall. Thanks again Maddy!

100 Handmade Wire Words

Recently received a really great challenge. An order for 100 Custom Name Wine Charms. Prior to, the most I have made for one order was 17.

100? No problem I thought, but it did take longer than predicted. I missed Stampede festivities (annual week long western themed festival celebration here in Calgary) but it was worth it! This order was from Molly and Neil of California, USA. They are getting married, and their wedding, appropriately so, will be held at a Winery. Molly told me that she plans on having each charm attached to individual seating cards, set up at the welcome table.

The items are shipping out today! So excited for her to see them. Check out some photos of the work in progress. The charms are 'handwritten' soley by hand. No template, simply writing the letters one by one with the wire and a pair of round nose pliers and regular small pliers. They are dainty and lightweight, and do get tangled easily if they are all thrown together carelessly. I was able to ship the work to her on three sheets of paper, as seen in the second last photo. The names of her guests were printed out and labeled on the left side as well, so it will be easy for her to find each of the names.

Edit: August 19th. Post wedding, I heard back from Molly and she said they were a huge hit! Everyone really liked this creative wedding favor that they could take home. Molly then requested 5 more charms, repeats of a couple of her guests because they forgot to take theirs home, and still wanted a little memento from her wedding celebration. What a pleasure it has been to take on a project like this and to work with Molly (a delight!).
